Weekend Activities

Your weekends are free to explore the following options in the area:

White-water Rafting in Rishikesh

Rishikesh, a spiritual center two hours from Mussoorie, offers white-water rafting trips on the Ganges. You can spend a weekend rafting and exploring Rishikesh, as well as visit the Maharishi ashram of Beatles fame. One rafting trip is included in the 10 week program. Additional trips can be arranged for $ 75.

Hiking and Camping

Overnight hiking and camping trips are available every weekend. There are many mountain routes and trails of varying difficulty easily accessible from Mussoorie.

Indian Cooking

For those of you who want to acquire skills in Indian or Tibetan cooking, you can informally visit our kitchen or attend organized classes on the weekends.

Himalayan Flora and Fauna

For the serious nature enthusiasts, we offer structured multimedia lessons and field exploration of local plants and animals. This can be extended by visits to the Forest Research Institute of India and elephant safaris in Rajaji National Park, both easily reachable from Mussoorie.

Weekend in a Village

To get a glimpse of life in a small Himalayan village, you can spend the weekends in a traditional local community. You can participate in regional festivals and interact with the hill tribes. You can even choose to spend your day at a Tibetan refugee settlement and explore a Buddhist monastery. A weekend in a village can be arranged for $ 30.

With all your activities during the week, you can also take the weekend off, sit by a bonfire, and just relax.
