Our purpose
Himalayan Gap offers Hindi language
lessons, volunteer work, daily yoga classes, and optional Indian
classical music instruction. In addition, we offer several other
opportunities to learn more about Indian culture and to experience the
Himalayas. The program includes the choice of a culminating three-week
trek in the Everest Region of Nepal.
How are we different?
At Himalayan Gap, we take no more than ten students at any given time. This allows us to make this experience extremely personalized for each student. Rajiv and Anu, the directors of the program, are with the students each day of the program. They will be in touch with parents on almost an everyday basis to keep them updated on the trip. Unlike many other companies, we do not outsource your experience to other tour operators. This is not a corporation; this is a family, and we want you to feel as comfortable here as you do at home.
You can read from our testimonials, the experience both, participants and parents, have had with our program.
Why choose us?
There are programs in which you can do
community service; there are programs in which you can go trekking;
there are ways in which you can arrange for Hindi or yoga lessons. But
Himalayan Gap is simply the only option that combines all of these
interests and more into one comprehensive, culturally enriching and
organized program. In addition, our many options for weekend activities
allow you to adapt the schedule to your own interests, making it a
thoroughly personal gap year experience.
Welcome to Himalayan Gap! We hope you
will consider our program for a truly unique gap year.
