Everest Base Camp Trek

Duration: 18 - 21 days

Elevation: up to 5400 metres (18,400 feet)

At the culmination of the core-program, students may choose to participate in a three-week trek to the base-camp of Mt. Everest. The trek is one of the most popular in Nepal and for good reason! From breathtaking views of Everest and other snow-clad peaks, to waterfalls and rhododendron valleys, and the kindness and hospitality of the Sherpa people, this trek rejuvenates the body and the mind. As part of our acclimatization process, we also trek to the base-camp of the gorgeous mountain Amadablam (6856 m/ 22,349 ft), whose embracing posture of open-arms is visible throughout our trial to the base of Everest. For those who are a tad more adventurous an extra two-day hike to Gokyo, a high altitude lake, through a pass may be arranged..

As a part of our acclimitization process we also trek to the base camp of Amadablam (22,349 ft). If you happen to be a tad more adventurous, you can add Gokyo Lake via the Chola Pass to the Everest Base Camp Trek for no additional cost.

This trek is demanding but does not require that you have any previous trekking or mountaineering experience. If you participate in our weekend hikes and explore the hillside in your free time, we believe you will be in good condition for the trek. Being in Mussoorie at an altitude of 6000 ft., you are well acclimatized to start the trek at Lukla (9380 ft). We encourage you to be physically active while you’re here, and once the trek begins you will acclimatize further along the way.

Having done this trek about a dozen times, the directors know the trail inside out. Coupled with the presence of patient and experienced Sherpas, each student is sure to receive very personalized attention and care.
